Our crape myrtles begin blooming during summer an continue to do so through the fall. I photographed a few of their very first blossoms a couple of days ago. The flowers are gorgeous.

The sunflowers planted in our garden are doing well. None of them have opened yet, but they will do so soon. Although the colorful red sunflower in this photo still immature, it is already beautiful.
If you scroll down a few post, you will see my photo of a honey bee eating from a clover. This post features a similar photo of a bumble bee stopping to eat a portion of his breakfast at this clover. The morning dew, which was still on the grass when I shot this photo, added color and beauty to my bee portrait.
We saw some gorgeous rhododendrons during our trip to the Blue Ridge Parkway this May. These were showing off their beauty on top of one of mountains we drove over during our trip.

There’re orchids, and this is the first orchid picture I’ve published on my blog.
I stayed on the lookout for Yellow Ladies Slippers, (they look similar to Pink Ladies Slippers but instead of pink they are yellow) but I couldn’t find any. I saw lots of other beautiful vegetation though.
I spotted many of these tiny purplish blueish wildflowers growing on the sides of hiking trails and roads during our trip to The Blue Ridge Parkway this May. They are easy to spot because the grow in large groups and clusters.

We returned only yesterday from our trip to the Blue Ride Parkway. We started at Peaks of Otter in Bedford Virginia and finished in Cherokee National Forest. The first photo will be of one of the most beautiful plants in the Appalachians, the Rhododendrons. I photographed the ones in this picture growing outside the Switzerland Inn lodge. They were so beautiful.
